When i was looking at some soil online i discovered bonsai jack succulent and soil mix.

It s expensive so i use it very sparingly. I haven t looked into it but i have heard you can achieve a similar mix of your own for cheaper by buying supplies separately. But for a couple of regular succulents in planters that may not drain well i ve mixed in some bonsai jack with my usual perlite soil blend. It s not the god send everyone says it is but as an ingredient to a soil mix with perlite the drainage is awesome.
The water goes right through and the soil doesn t hold very much. I also had problems with growth using bonsai jack. From the reviews i found it seemed like it was worth a try but of course i have. I m actually worries it drains too well.
After reading through the side bar i noticed i should be mixing the soil 1 1 with pumice or perlite. I m considering mixing it with cactus soil just so it can hold some water for the succulents to suck up.
