Mexican Heather Bonsai

I pruned away everything leaving about a dime in diameter of root.
Mexican heather bonsai. Mexican heather cuphea hyssopifolia may appear to be fragile with its clusters of tiny pink or white flowers and dainty green leaves but this plant is actually as sturdy as they come. I started this mexican heather about 2 months ago with plans to have a mame sized bonsai. Growing just 10 to 18 inches tall this shrubby tropical annual is smothered in blooms all summer long. It was originally in a 4 inch growing container and very root bound.
The whole container was pretty much all roots. That s at least 95 of the roots tossed away. Plus the flowers are as attractive to butterflies as they are to you.
